I am a 19 year old from Connecticut who is currently attending Hofstra University in Long Island. I am a drama major who spends way too much money on clothes, watches too much tv, and lives for theatre. This blog is meant to be a random collection of thoughts, pictures, and quotes that I have found. Enjoy :0)

Ways to live a fairytale

thechocolatebrigade:

  • Kiss passing amphibians, just in case
  • Wear your hair in braids, curled up over your head
  • Have a conversation with your mirror as you’re getting ready in the morning
  • Go apple picking in an orchard
  • Wear silver bells tied to your ankles
  • Grow wild roses and jasmine in your garden
  • Leave milk and honey out for the Faeries
  • Pluck daisy petals, ‘He loves me.. he loves me not’
  • Sing old disney tunes in the bath
  • Celebrate May day, wear flowers in your hair and bathe in the morning dew
  • Bring a basket of fresh cookies to your grandmother
  • Give yourself a secret name that noone else knows
  • Wear glittery shoes of silver or ruby red
  • Go for a moonlight walk on the beach and look for mermaids and selkies
  • Write your dreams down each morning in a midnight blue diary
  • Tell stories to children
  • Hide a dried pea under your mattress
  • Help an old woman you meet on your way
  • Place a single red rose in a vase by your bed
  • Spend a whole day in bed, in a pretty nightgown and wait for a kiss
  • Bake a gingerbread man or house
  • Wear a goosefeather for good luck
  • Eat porridge for breakfast, make sure the temperature is just right
  • Search for the end of a rainbow
  • Go dancing at midnight in your living room by candlelight

What to do on a rainy day

alchemic:

thechocolatebrigade:

1. Bake a tray of double chocolate chip cookies and eat them while they’re still warm. Or even cupcakes, everyone loves cupcakes.

2. Get into some DIY fashion, stud your boots, rip up a t-shirt, learn to tie-dye turn a piece of your clothing into something totally different.

3. Get out all your make-up and experiment with some new looks. Watch youtube tutorials, and copy. There is some amazing tutorials out there.

4. Get out your “comfy clothes” and curl up on the couch with a blanket and a good book. If you happen to drift off, let yourself.

5. Get together whatever artistic materials you have – paints, chalk, pencils, and markers  and draw. If you don’t have any artistic materials, improvise use food, lipstick, eye shadow, glitter. One piece of art can change a room.

6. Go through all your photos and make a collage of your favorite memories. Add keepsakes like concert tickets and boarding passes. I have a whole wall of this.

7. Go through your closet. Revisit your style and see if there are items you can sell on EBay, to earn some money to buy new stuff.

8. Go to Amnesty International and learn about human rights and how you can help. Sign some petitions, write some letters and get involved. Do something for others, it makes you feel so much better.

9. Have a picnic on your living room floor. Better yet, have a picnic in a fort drape blankets over your tables and chairs and set up camp. Revist your childhood, Invite friends over make popcorn and gossip.

10. Log onto FreeRice.com and play the game – for each answer you get right, they will donate 10 grains of rice through the UN World Food Program to help end hunger. Its a boredem buster, and again your doing something for others.

11. Look up something you have never quite understood – communism, feminism, politics. Learn more. trust me, when you finish school, you do want to learn more.

12. Make a home-karaoke movie and post it on YouTube. Like these guys did. Hahaa!

13. Make an iTunes mix of your favorite, most uplifting songs. Play them from start to finish and dance around your living room. Be free.

14. Make lists of the ten places you want to visit before you die or the ten things you want to do before you die. Seal it in an envelope and plan to open it every five years to see what you have accomplished. My list goes on for a while.

15. Melt a block of chocolate until it is half-goo, half-solid and eat the whole thing. Lick your lips and your fingers until it is all gone. It is uh-may-zing.

16. Print out a storybook picture from the internet and color it in. Don’t worry if you go outside the lines. I still love the disney fairy tale ones.

17. Get your friends, and stay up all night drinking wine and smoking. Talk about all the things you have done in the past, and things you want to do in the future.

18. Put a deep conditioner in your hair or a mud mask on your face, sit back and let them work their magic. Pamper yourself.

19. Run a deep, hot bubble bath and sink in to the water. Don’t get out until your fingers and toes are pruny and wrinkled and your skin is super soft.

20. Kiss in the rain, with your boyfriend.

21. Teach yourself to do a handstand against the wall. If you can already do this, try to beat your personal record and see how long you can stay this way.

22. Two words: movie marathon.

23. Watch endless reruns of Sex & The City, Gossip Girl, The hills. Any past seasons on your favorite shows.

24. Write a haiku and give it to your boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend. If you don’t have it in you, go to Haiku-O-Matic and generate one.

25. Write a letter. Not on a email, or face book. But on paper, and send it in the post. I miss getting post, other then bills.
